Tom Simpson: Something to aim at
This film traces his life from humble beginnings in a small village in Durham, to the World Championship podium in Spain in 1965. Reminiscences from professional colleagues Barry Hoban, Vin Denson and the great Eddy Merckx, and Simpson's team manager and cycle mechanic from the 1967 Tour, Alex Taylor and Harry Hall add to the story. Helen Hoban, his widow, and daughter Jane have their own special memories.
The World of Tommy Simpson
This film contains footage of the great man in action, including Tom riding in the Brussels Six Day Race with the legendary Peter Post, and the BBC film from 1965. All of which adds up to the story that is The World of Tommy Simpson.
This BBC film is a fascinating documentary containing extremely rare archive footage. It is a very special piece of cycling history as Tom talks very frankly about his goals, cycling and what it takes to be a champion. It is unmissable.
