DVD: Two Classic titles on one DVD
The Fausto Coppi Story
Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi was one of the most exciting and charismatic cyclists of all time, unassuming in physical build but not in personality. His dominance in racing was trumped only by his fiercely competitive nature.
In 1949, his seventh year as a professional, Coppi took an astounding nine firsts, including both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France, and earned the moniker "Campionissimo." Coppi's private life was also filled with drama. Constantly hounded by tabloids, he became one of the most revered and reviled racers in Italy during the 1950s. His tragic death from an undetected attack of malaria in 1960 brought a premature close to his storied career.
This historic video puts sound and picture to the remarkable story of the legendary Italian cycling champion. His life combined the soaring elements of a Puccini opera with the earthier aspects of a soap opera. Above all, Fausto Coppi was one of the all-time greats of pro cycling, and the scope of his achievements is made vividly clear through historic footage and revealing interviews.

Jacques Anquetil: the Man, the Mystery, the Legend
A remarkable film that penetrates the myth surrounding the five-time winner of the Tour de France, who "did for cycling what Mozart did for music," in the words of Raphael Geminiani, his old directeur sportif. Like Mozart, Anquetil was a precocious genius, inventing a new style--rounded, aerodynamic and apparently easy--that was ahead of its time. Anquetil elevated time trialling to a new level. He caressed the pedals with incredible power, in spite of his slight physique, and flew like the legendary Caravelle.
In this superbly made film, we discover his courage and his persistence. No other rider ever attempted, let alone won, the Dauphine Libï'rï' on one day and the Bordeaux-Paris, one of the world's hardest races, on the next. Anquetil was also a hell-raiser and bon vivant. He could party, drink champagne, smoke all night and then win the next day's race!
Carefully researched and full of valuable first-hand accounts, notably from his first wife Janine, this film provides a fascinating and very moving insight into one of cycling's greatest champions.
